As reported previously, on Wednesday, January 13th, 2010, the Prelacy
lost Archpriest Fr. Anoushavan Artinian.
On the morning of Tuesday, January 19th, H.E. Archbishop
Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, clergy members, the late
Rev. Anoushavan’s family, Executive Council members, Homenetmen
Central and Regional Executive members, representatives of sister
organizations and a large number of faithful gathered at St. Mary’s
Church for the Funeral Mass and Extreme Unction.
The funeral mass was celebrated by Very Rev. Fr. Muron
Aznikian, during which clergy members solemnly and by turn read
passages from the Bible. The Prelate then conducted the Extreme
Unction ceremony, anointing the decedent’s forehead and hand.
Prior to the Prelate’s remarks, the letter of condolence
sent by H.E. Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Prelate of the Eastern
United States, was read.
The Prelate remembered Fr. Anoushavan as a good-natured
and humble man, extolling his five decades of service within the
Prelacies of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, from
Greece, to the Eastern United States, and finally at the Western
Prelacy.
On behalf of the clergy order and Religious and Executive
Councils, the Prelate extended his sympathies to Yeretsgin Salpi
Artinian, children Steve, Khajag, and Houri, and family members.
The burial took place at Forest Lawn following the
service.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND ESTABLISHED AT MARY POSTOIAN
PRE-SCHOOL IN MEMORY OF ZEVART YEDALIAN

We are pleased to announce that ARS `Mayr’ Chapter Mary Postoian
Pre-School in Hollywood recently received a considerable donation
courtesy of young attorney Shant Yedalian.
Mr. Yedalian recently represented a class action lawsuit
brought forth against a commercial establishment. A judgment was
awarded in favor of the plaintiff. After consulting with the court,
Mr. Yedalian decided to donate the sum of $104,500 to a charitable
cause.
Mr. Yedalian kept the Prelacy abreast of the situation and
expressed his desire to donate the funds to ARS `Mayr’ Chapter Mary
Postoian Pre-School to establish a scholarship fund in memory of his
late mother Zevart Yedalian.
H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, Executive
Council and the Board of Regents highly commend Mr. Yedalian’s
thoughtful gesture and generosity.

ANNUAL RESPECT LIFE MASS AT THE
CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE

Each year, the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles holds their Annual
Respect Life Mass to remember lives lost to abortion. H.E. Cardinal
Roger Mahony has extended an invitation to the Prelate to participate
in the ceremony; however the Prelate will be in Fresno on that day.
Very Rev. Fr. Barthev Gulumian will attend on his behalf.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
