Azerbaijani MPs are meeting US congressmen in Washington to present
their concerns about aid to Nagorno-Karabakh.
"The members of the Azerbaijani delegation met Congressman Polis,
representing Colorado, and briefed him on Baku’s concerns about the
implications of the US Congress assistance to Nagorno-Karabakh,"
the Milli Majlis international department said on Tuesday.
"The Azerbaijani side intends to raise its concern at meetings with
other congressmen and senators and with the assistant deputy US
secretary of state, Tina Kaidanow," the Milli Majlis international
department told Interfax-Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani deputies are also discussing with their US counterparts
the development of US-Azerbaijani relations and the situation in the
South Caucasus.
The cross-party parliamentary delegation from Azerbaijan consists of
Zahid Oruj, Ganira Pashayeva, Gular Ahmadova and Igbal Agazade.
In December 2009 the US Congress allocated financial aid of $8m to
Nagorno-Karabakh. The Milli Majlis appealed to Congress about the
inadmissibility of financial aid to separatists.
