The ties between the educational establishments and the army are
gradually strengthening. Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan had a meeting
with the students of the Yerevan State University today.
"It’s necessary to be able to correctly assess the security atmosphere
in the region and resist the existing challenges," the Minister said.
He summed up the work done in Armed Forces in 2009 and outlined the
plans for 2010. He also said that 2010 had been declared a year of
knowledge in the defense system.
"The Armenian army is 18 today. There is even a joke, which says
the Army will be called up for military service this year. Today
we should not only stand and boast of being the most powerful army
in the region. We have to take all this into consideration and move
forward along the path of reforms," Minister Ohanyan said.
