The Republican, Bargavach Hayastan and the Orinats Yerkir parties
issued a statement which aims to draw everyone’s attention to the
interview of the PACE newly elected chair Movlut Chavushoglu on January
26. According to them, his statements during this interview dispute
his impartiality in connection with the Karabakh issue. He does not
understand the essence and the elements of the conflict. The PACE
Chairman seems not to notice the basic principles of the settlement
ignoring the principles of self determination, as well as the
security of the Karabakh people which is always posed to danger by
the Azerbaijani government.

By affirming that the Karabakh issue is an obstacle for the
normalization of the Armenian and Turkish relations, the Chairman
disputes the authority of his presidency from the point of having
positive role in the settlement of regional issues.

His statements once again prove that negotiations are to be held
exceptionally by OSCE and its Minsk group. Hence, the Republican,
Bargavach Hayastan and Orinats Yerkir parties of the Armenian National
Assembly appeal to the RA NA Speaker to find out from the PACE Chairman
whether Chavushoglu’s interview is true as well as to find out whether
his words are to be considered the PACE official opinion for Armenia
to seriously discuss whether to continue participating in the future
in the PACE activities or not.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
