"Mevlut Cavusoglu’s recent statement was an extremely unsuccesful
benefice [solo performance] for such a high-ranking position as the
president of PACE," Republican Party of Armenia spokesperson Edward
Sharmazanov said, referring to Cavusoglu’s APA interview yesterday.
Speaking to Tert.am, Sharmazanov mentioned that Cavusoglu distorted
reality when he said that, besides the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs,
Switzerland also makes efforts toward the settlement of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as Switzerland has nothing to do with it.
Responding to Cavusoglu’s statement, according to which
Armenia-Turkey reconciliation and Nagorno-Karabakh issues are
interrelated, Sharmazanov said, it proves how short-sighted Turkey’s
"euro-ambitions" are because "by making such a statement, the PACE
president is being led not by PACE’s principles and its unbiased
values, but is trying to hold PACE hostage for his country, Turkey,
and for its ally Azerbaijan."
