In order to resolve the issue of garbage removal in the republic,
the Armenian government has decided to announce an international
competition among private companies.

Presenting the concept of regulating residential waste in the city of
Yerevan, Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan, during a government
session, said that Yerevan will be divided into different areas
and waste disposal in those areas will be handed over to different
private companies.

The minister expects that private companies will take over waste
removal beginning from July 2011, when vehicles will be secured and
garbage bins will be placed.

Also planned during this overhaul are closed areas of waste disposal.

The implementation of this new program has received support, by way
of equipment, from the World Bank.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
