ARMENIA AND U.S. SIGNED MEMORANDUM

Today, Feb. 5, RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan and USAID mission
director Jatinder Cheema signed a memorandum of understanding. The
ceremony was attended by RA NA Head of staff, MPs, Ambassadors
accredited in Armenia and other officials.

RA Parliament Speaker stated that "this meeting marks the start of
cooperation between the RA National Assembly and U.S. authorities,"
Armenian NA PR and Information department informed NEWS.am.

U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch expressed content with
participation of American side in the initiative.

The document stipulates implementation of legal reforms, development
of NA information, expert, research and analytic capabilities as well
as improvement of parliamentary control tools enabling the deputies
and staff to familiarize themselves with international expertise.

Under the memorandum a working group will be formed for fulfillment
and implementation of the projected activities.
