President Serzh Sargsyan sent a congratulatory message to the newly
elected President Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovich. The message reads:

"Dear Victor Fyodorovich,

Please accept my congratulations on your election as President
of Ukraine.

Your dedication to the traditional friendship and mutual support
of our two peoples are remembered and cherished in Armenia, and we
believe that further development of the Armenian-Ukrainian cooperation
is essential.

I am looking forward to our constructive cooperation for the benefit
of deepened and enhanced relations between Armenia and Ukraine,
based on mutual respect and consideration for each other’s interests,
close cooperation on the entire bilateral agenda, and coordination
of approaches regarding regional and global issues.

I hope that such a comprehensive approach and our personal relations
will help us to swiftly achieve these objectives.

Dear Victor Fyodorovich,

I wish you good health and success, and I wish the people of Ukraine
prosperity and progress."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
