`That is a beautiful diplomatic step; however, in reality, Aliyev
won’t come,’ said leader of the People’s Party of Armenia, Tigran
Karapetyan, while speaking to journalists today and referring to Serzh
Sargsyan’s London statement in which he said that the Azerbaijani
president would be invited to the opening ceremony of the
Armenia-Turkey border.

According to Karapetyan, it will be a day of mourning for Aliyev if
the Armenia-Turkey border opens.

`That issue is decisive for Aliyev; he is strictly against the opening
of the border and he won’t come to the [opening] ceremony; rather, he
will be counter-inclined toward Turkey,’ said the party leader.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
