Turkish Prime Minister Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan is planing to
visit the US, reports Turkish paper Radikal, adding that a foreign
ministry advisor, Feridun Sinirlioglu, has already left for Washington
to arrange the visit.
Turkey’s ambassador to Washington, Namik Tan, is also included in
the Turkish delegation to US.
During his meetings with the US State Secretary and White House
representatives, Sinirlioglu is going to discuss the Armenian
Consitutional Court ruling on the Armenia-Turkey Protocols, and to
voice Ankara’s concerns on the matter to the American side.
Sinirlioglu is expected to dicuss a bill recognizing the Armenian
Genocide to be presented for US Congress approval and also issues
related with Iran.
Earlier, Sinirlioglu was sent to Switzerland with the hopes of
receiving written guarantees that the court ruling doesn’t hinder the
Armenia-Turkey rapprochement process; however, Sinirlioglu left with
no such guarantee in writing from mediator Switzerland.
Radikal also mentions that Erdogan is planing to take part in the UN
Security Council session. According to the Turkish publication, the
PM wants to discuss Armenia-Turkey relations with US President Barack
Obama before April 24, the commemoration day of Armenian Genocide.
