Sirusho to guest star at Maltese Final

Sirusho who represented Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008
is the international special guest for the Malta Eurosong 2010.

Less than one week for the Maltese national final and the national
broadcaster PBS managed to bring an international guest to perform in
the show. PBS made various attempts to bring a Eurovision artist.
Close sources to PBS stated that the organisers searched for a popular
Eurovision singer.

Sirusho who happens to remain popular with her beaty ethnic entry
`Qele Qele’ was one of the best choices for PBS to attract more
interest in the show. Sirusho reached a respectable fourth place in
Belgrade. Talks were made with the managements behind Eurovision
winner Alexander Rybak and runner-up Yohanna. The Norwegian singer is
scheduled to sing in the Slovenian final known as EMA and therefore he
couldn’t make it to the Maltese islands to appear in the national
final.

The guests list includes Mary Spiteri who brought the first third
place for Malta in 1992 and Chiara. The latter owns three Eurovision
participations and came close twice to lift the trophy.

Meanwhile as from tomorrow the rehearsals for the twenty finalists
kicks-off in the venue where the Maltese national final will take
place next Saturday. The winner of the Malta Eurosong 2010 final will
represent the country in the first semi-final of the next Eurovision
Song Contest.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
