The Latvian Football Federation has withdrawn its participation in a
March 3 friendly match to be played against Armenia. Though the
Latvian and Armenian football federations had come to a previous
agreement on the match, Latvia has opted to play against Angola
instead.

The match was to take place in Cyprus, and though Armenia currently
doesn’t have another opponent to play against, nevertheless, the team
will be in Cyprus on March 3.

Iceland, who was another candidate for playing against Armenia,
likewise, will not be Armenia’s opponent in the March 3 match.
Iceland’s team has already agreed to play with Cyprus’ team on March 3.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
