ArmInfo. "There is nothing dangerous and negative in speeding up the
Karabakh conflict settlement," says Karen Avagyan, parliamentarian
from the Republican Party of Armenia debating with Stepan Safaryan,
a member of the Heritage Party, on this topic, Thursday.

Avagyan believes intensification of the Karabakh conflict’s settlement
necessary to maintain peace and stability in the region and enhance
security of the Artsakh people.

In the meanwhile, Stepan Safaryan believes that the Armenian-Turkish
normalization is indirectly connected with the Karabakh conflict. He
called parallel activation of the negotiations for settlement of the
conflict one of the evidences for the aforementioned. Avagyan said he
does not share this viewpoint, since Turkey’s efforts to link the two
processes have been repeatedly stopped by the Armenian authorities
and Russian and US officials.

Armenia and Turkey signed the "Protocol on the establishment
of diplomatic relations" and the "Protocol on the development of
bilateral relations" in Zurich on October 10. Afterwards, the Turkish
Foreign Ministry submitted the protocols to the Foreign Relations
Committee of the Turkish Parliament. The final resolution was to be
made before December 7, but wasn’t. To come into effect the protocols
must be submitted to the respective Parliaments for the ratification
on each side.
