MIGRATION POLICY PROGRAM SUMMED UP IN YEREVAN

The three-year Program of Contribution to the Development of the
Migration Policy has been summed up today, after being implemented
in 2007-2009 by joint efforts of the International Center for Human
Development, the British Council, and the Migration Agency of the
Ministry of Territorial Administration of Armenia.
Chief of the Center, Tevan Pogosian, said that the program focused
mainly on covering the consequences of migration, measures against
migration, and development of the structures of managing the migration
flows.
In the framework of the Program, there were 5 packages of bills
delivered, 20 hearings held, and 12 movies filmed, said Tevan
Pogosian. Besides, a Migration Center was established at the
Migration Agency of the Ministry of Territorial Administration of
Armenia, and a three-language web-site "Back Home" became available
at and , providing any Armenian
anywhere in the world to apply to the Center for support.
According to Mr. Pogosian, 1,650 people have applied to the Center
over three years. Mainly, the applications relate to documents (969),
employment (804), social issues (160), health (34), education (56),
military services (64), legal (62), accommodation (273), etc.
