THE FIRST HONORARY CONSUL OF ARMENIA FOR DER ZOR VISITS HIS HOLINESS ARAM I
On Wednesday 17 February 2010, Souren Vartanian visited His Holiness Aram I
to thank him for welcoming him as the first Honorary Ambassador of Armenia
for Der Zor. The message was read by Bishop Shahan Sarkissian, Prelate of
the Diocese of Aleppo and Syria. In the message, His Holiness said that this
new position will strengthen the commitment of the Armenian people to the
memory of the martyrs of the genocide and will remind the world of the
history of the Catholicosate in Cilicia and its people.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Harout Vartanian, the Chairman of the
Council of the Martyrs’ Church in Der Zor, and a member of the Board of the
Der Zor Monument.
