Azerbaijani MP Mubariz Gurbanli proposed to protest the raising of
the issue of recognizing the so-called "Armenian genocide" in the
U.S. Congress.

"Turkey is pressured because it does not want to ratify the
Ankara-Yerevan protocols," Gurbanli said. "We should support Turkey."

Diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey have been broken due
to Armenia’s claims of an alleged genocide, and its occupation of
Azerbaijani lands. The border between them has been closed since 1993.

The issue concerning the recognition of the genocide is expected to
be raised in the U.S. Congress March 4.

"I suggest the Parliamentary International and Inter-parliamentary
Relations Committee urge the U.S. Congress to prevent the discussion
of this issue," he added.

The MP also proposed to organize a parliamentary delegation to the
United States.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
