The largest retailer of Armenia – STAR network of supermarkets –
has reduced prices of 100 more commodities being the most popular
ones under the programme "Always Low Prices". Now a total of 300
commodities will participate in the programme.
The programme "Always Low Prices" aimed at consistent maintenance
of prices of the offered range of commodities at a lower level than
the average market one was launched in August 2009. At that time the
basis of the strategy became 120 key mass consumer goods and branded
commodities of the most popular and demanded goods among STAR clients.
By the end of 2009 the number of commodities of "Always Low Prices"
increased up to 150, and then- up to 200.
The practice on reducing prices of the most popular commodities enjoys
big success abroad, particularly, among such big retailers as Wal-Mart
and ASDA. This is a permanent programme, unlike price actions that are
restricted to a two-week period and changing its range of commodities.
Commercial Director of STAR network Narine Avetisyan said that sales
of the goods under the programme "Always Low Prices" have increased
4-5 times. "We think this project is successful as it is economically
grounded, and its goals meet the mission of our company. Under the
given programme, each Armenian family will find at STAR supermarkets
the commodities meeting its needs and financial opportunities",-
stressed Avetisyan. She added that by the end of 2010 STAR is going
to increase the number of "Always Low Prices" commodities up to 500.
