Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. "Iran has started assisting in the
settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
The issue on Iran’s assisting in this issue was discussed during
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov’s visit to Iran by
the consent of President Ilham Aliyev," Mahammad Bagir Bahrami said
at the press conference, APA reports. The ambassador said Iran as an
important country of the region might offer its help. The diplomat
mentioned that OSCE Minsk Group was established 18 years ago, and
said they did not either want to fulfill their task or could not do it.
"Anyway, this issue has not been solved. Azerbaijani and Iranian
officials said that mediators seek their benefit, not the solution
to the problem. Iran wants to find a fair solution to the conflict by
using its potential. Iran wants the occupied Azerbaijani territories
to be released," he said.
The ambassador said a new stage had begun in the region.
"The sooner the security is restored, the sooner the region will
develop," he said.
