Iran plans to construct an oil pipeline and terminal on its border
with Armenia to increase exports of oil products to the country,
the English-language satellite Press TV reported Wednesday.
Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister Noureddin Shahnazi-Zadeh said the two sides
agreed on a contract for a 350-km pipeline that carries oil products
to Armenia, the report said.
"The construction of the joint pipeline needs the investment of 350
million U.S. dollars," Shahnazi-Zadeh was quoted as saying.
"The construction of the pipeline and oil terminal would increase the
exports of oil products to this northern neighboring country," he said.
Iran and Armenia reached a primary agreement on construction of the
pipeline from Iranian northwestern city of Tabriz to the border city
of Mughri, in Armenia in 2007.
The pipeline will transfer oil products such as gasoline and gas from
Tabriz refinery to Armenia.
