Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev’s statement about Baku
intention to resume hostility in Karabakh conflict zone is nothing
but diplomatic move addressed to Turkey and OSCE Minsk Group, Director
of the Department for Problems of Ethnic Relations Sergey Markedonov
at the Institute for Political and Military Analysis told NEWS.am.

According to him, voicing similar statements Baku wishes to draw
attention of Ankara and OSCE Minsk Group to Karabakh peace process,
as certain inactivity is recently registered in the talks. "Such
statements by Baku are not know-how and are voiced not for the first
time. And like we see they are groundless. Abiyev’s recent statement
does not mean war will start in Karabakh conflict zone tomorrow,"
emphasized Markedonov.

At the meeting with French Ambassador Gabriel Keller Azerbaijani
Defense Minister Safar Abiyev stated that Baku cannot wait another
15 years for Karabakh conflict settlement. "If the occupier Armenia
does not liberate our lands, a great war in the South Caucasus is
inevitable," underlined Defense Minister.
