Today’s conference with participation of Chief of the State Department
of Migrations and Refugee Services Gagik Eghanian has begun with a
minute of silence for the Sumgait Victims.
"The Sumgait Massacre is nothing more than the genocide. Dozens of
hundreds of Armenians were killed and tortured, and all these actions
against civil population were planned by Azerbaijan’s government,"
said Gagik Eghanian.
He pointed that there are numerous publications related to the Sumgait
Massacre, and there are documents, released on All
these materials are appalled by its brutality.
The Sumgait Massacre, when Armenian population of Azerbaijan’s Sumgait
town was subjected to mass killings, left thousands injured and dozens
of thousands homeless people, who became refugees, said Gagik Eghanian.
"This was followed by massacres in Kirovabad, Baku, and other towns
of Azerbaijan. More than half a million of Armenians had to leave
