No Mechanism, There Will Be Chaos

NO MECHANISM, THERE WILL BE CHAOS

Today, the HayRusGazArd head visited Karabakh and met with Bako
Sahakyan. Evidently, we have to presume that Karen Karapetyan presented
to Bako Sahakyan the same arguments he brought up in Yerevan. The
arguments are the following: say thanks we increase the price only
by 40 and not by 100 percent, not from January 1 but from April 1.

Russia’s enterprise reminds Shylock of "The Merchant of Venice" by
Shakespeare: remember Shylock agrees with Antonio that if he did not
pay back the loan on the appointed day, he would have to pay it him
back … "in pounds of his own meat". And Shylock gets the meat from
Antonio’s thigh. Just like HayRusGazArd.

The Ombusdman Armen Harutyunyan noted that laws in Armenia defend
exceptionally the rights of major business and the rights of ordinary
citizens are not defended. Indeed, even in case of an attentive
scrutiny, it is difficult to find mechanisms with the help of which
people could voice about their rights. There are no trade unions,
consumer groups and human rights organizations are in their infancy
period, parties do not cover even a few percent of the population,
the deputies are not elected by the people, the "independent"
structures designed to protect consumers’ rights also defend the
rights of business. It is enough to listen to the members of the State
Services Regulatory Commission commission who defend the application
of HayRusGazArd.

To speak in conditions of absence of mechanisms of protest is just
unnatural. But when there is no mechanism, everything may turn
into a chaos. Europe is shaking from manifestations but they do not
bring about the collapse of the countries because there are clear
organizational and controlling mechanisms. In Armenia, any spontaneous
social shake may bring about the collapse of the governmental system.

Let alone Karabakh.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
