Today, the Court of Appeals started and ended the trial against the
resident of Katnaghbyur village of Aragatsotn region Sasha Davtyan
who appealed the decision of the court of First Instance (Art.119
torture). The Court of Appeals satisfied the appeal and Sasha Davtyan
was set free.
The court condemned Sasha to 3 years of imprisonment and released
him based on the amnesty declared by the Armenian National Assembly.
Before, Sasha Davtyan noted that he is going to fight to find real
criminals. "Instead of real criminals, they arrested me".
Sasha Davtyan’s daughters, who were the injured parties in the case,
were in the courtroom and embraced their father right there. They
were asking the judge "Let our father come home".
He has been under arrest since March 8, 2009. In last December, the
court of General Jurisdiction of Aragatsotn region justified Sasha
Davtyan charged with violating one of his daughters and was condemned
to four years in prison under the charge of torture.
