Turkish Ambassador to U.S. to contribute to opposing Genocide resolution

Affairs Committee will put Armenian Genocide resolution into the
agenda.
The newly-appointed Turkish Ambassador to the United States Namik Tan,
who submitted his credentials to the U.S. President Barack Obama on
Wednesday will also get involved in process of prevention to include
the resolution in the agenda, Turkish Zaman daily reports.
As NEWS.am reported previously, Turkey struggles against adoption of
Genocide Resolution in the U.S. Congress through various means. In
parallel with Murat Mercan’s (Turkish Parliament Foreign Affairs
Commission Chairman) visit to U.S., Turkish Parliament also sent a
letter to the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Howard
Berman.
According to Turkish Internethaber website, the letter says that
resolution’s inclusion in the agenda is not in Armenia’s, Turkey’s or
U.S. interests and steps impeding the normalization process with
Armenia should be avoided. `The resolution misdescribes the events of
the 19th century end ` beginning of 20th. Political analysts should
make way for historians to cover tragedy of 1915. We expect you will
not place the resolution on the agenda,’ the letter reads.
