PATHANAMTHITTA: The faithful accorded a ceremonial reception to the
Catholicos of the Armenian Orthodox Church, Aram I of the Holy See
of Cilicia, during his visit to the ancient churches at Kallooppara,
Niranom and Parumala on Sunday.
Hundreds of believers thronged the St. Mary’s Orthodox Church
at Kallooppara to receive the Catholicos in the morning. Aram-I,
accompanied by two other bishops from Armenia and the Metropolitan of
Thiruvananthapuram diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church,
Gabriel Mar Gregorios, was escorted to the church in a ceremonial
procession to the accompaniment of Panchavadyam at 8.30 a.m.
The Catholicos attended the holy Eucharist celebrated by Youhanon
Mar Chrysostomos Metropolitan of the Niranom diocese. He blessed the
congregation and addressed a meeting held at the church hall. The
Catholicos offered prayers at the tomb of St. Gregorios at Parumala.
