Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan, who was on a two-day visit to
Georgia, has met with his Georgian counterpart Mikheil Saakashvili.

Both Presidents talked about the Upper Lars checkpoint, and
discussed Armenia-Georgia relations and their further strengthening,
a spokesperson to Presidential Press Office said.

"I think that bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Georgia
and our friendly relations are not only a result of our efforts,
but mostly those of our nations. Many Armenians travel to Georgia’s
Batumy in summer, and are warmly welcomed by Georgian residents. Here
in Georgia live many Armenians; there is an Armenian church here. All
ethnic groups live in peace and harmony, and we consider it as our
achievement," said Mikheil Saakashvili.

"For ages we were and we are brotherly peoples," said Serzh Sargsyan,
in his turn pointing the friendly relations between the countries. He
said hopes the relations will remain warm and friendly, and thanked
Georgian President for invitation to visit the country and for a
warm welcome.

Armenian President attended Batumy’s sightseeing and learnt town’s
investment programmes.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
