Moscow’s Tretyakov Gallery has gathered together the collection
of Martiros Sarian’s art, timing the exposition to the 130th birth
anniversary of the greatest Armenian artist. Among 60 Sarian’s works
included are those paintings that have been displayed on the very
rare occasions.

Tretyakov Gallery offers the exhibition to enjoy Martiros Sarian
Exhibition within the framework of the long-term "The State Tretyakov
Gallery opens its reserves" Cultural Program.

Gallery’s Director, Mrs. Irina Lebedeva, told journalists that only
those paintings by Martiros Sarian, which are on display at the
Tretyakov Gallery, are enough to conceptualize the art of Martiros
Sarian, who comes as a great master of the XX century.

"The Martiros Sarian Exhibition presents a selection of works, made
by the artist from the 1902’s," said Irina Lebedeva.

"Included in the presented works are those, which are lasting on
display at the Gallery, and those from Lavrushinsky Pereulok and from
reserves," she added.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
