ArmInfo. A bill on certification of bread and bakery products will be
passed in Armenia in 2010, Artur Varzhapetyan, Head of the Department
for Food Security, Minister of Agriculture of Armenia, told ArmInfo.

He said the Food Safety and Veterinary Inspectorate drafted the bill.

He said that in Jan-Feb 2010 alone the Inspectorate received nearly 40
complaints of the quality and the sanitarian and hygienic standards
of bread and bakery products by consumers. Complaints are made also
to the public organizations no protection of consumers’ rights.

A. Varzhapetyan said that the Inspectorate has drafted nearly 20
bills during 3 years of its activity and the greatest part of the
bills was adopted. In 2009 the Inspectorate revealed violations at
1115 of 1156 food producing and selling enterprises. The inspections
were suspended after the monitoring of the enterprises with annual
turnover below 70 million drams was restricted. Partial inspections
were made in Dec 2009 and Jan 2010 after mass intoxication of children
at regional kindergartens.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
