The Foreign Relations Committee of the US House of Representatives
is due to vote on the Armenian Genocide Resolution (H. Res. 252), as
scheduled by the Committee Chairman, Howard Berman still a month ago.

This has brought about a skirmish in Turkey and it sent two delegations
to Washington to prevent the adoption of the resolution.

By yesterday, Obama Administration had said not a single word over
the Resolution, though, the US National Security Council spokesman
Mike Hammer declared Wednesday that President Obama’s view on history
has not changed.

"US President Barack Obama pledged during his election campaign
that he would recognise the killings as genocide, but disappointed
Armenian-American supporters when he refrained from using the term in
his April 24 message last year to commemorate the killings. His view
of that history has not changed," said US National Security Council
spokesman Mike Hammer. "Our interest remains the achievement of a
full, frank, and just acknowledgement of the facts. The best way to
advance that goal is for the Armenian and Turkish people to address
the facts of the past as a part of their ongoing efforts to normalize
relations. We will continue to support these efforts vigorously in
the months ahead," Hammer said.

Vatan said yesterday the US House of Representatives has 46 MPs,
including 26 democrats and 20 republicans.

18 democrats say a certain "yes" to the resolution, while only 7 of
the republicans support it. The resolution is expected to pass to
the House plenary session by 25 pro and 21 con proportion of votes.

Though, it’s Nancy Pelosi, current Speaker of the United States
House of Representatives, who will decide whether the issue will be
included into the session agenda. Let’s see that Pelosi represents
California, where a huge number of Armenians live. Besides, she has
always supported the adoption of the Armenian Genocide Resolution.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
