Armenian Genocide Resolution not to be introduced to U.S. Congress

10:48 / 03/06/2010The administration of U.S. President Barack Obama
has agreed with leaders of the House of Representatives to stop
Armenian Genocide Resolution from going further in Congress.

`We believe that Congress should not make a decision on the issue,’
administration high ranking official said.

`White house fears to deteriorate ties with Turkey. The NATO ally is
crucial to U.S. interests in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and the Middle
East,’ Reuters reports referring to administration sources.

As NEWS.am reported previously, March 4, the U.S. House Committee on
Foreign Affairs adopted Armenian Genocide Resolution. After discussing
it for several hours, the Committee approved Armenian Resolution by a
vote of 23 to 22.

Turkey recalled its Ambassador to U.S. Namik Tan to Ankara to hold
consultations.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
