ARMENIAN ACTIVIST MARIAM SUKHUDYAN AWARDED BRAVERY MEDAL

On March 10, US Ambassador to Armenia Marie L. Yovanovitch will award
environmental and social activist Mariam Sukhudyan with a medal of
bravery at a reception held at the US Embassy in Armenia.

Mariam is known for her work on uncovering incidents of sexual abuse
and neglect at the No.11 Nubarashen boarding school for children
with special needs, as well as her work on th SOS Teghut campaign
(saving Teghut forest in Armenia).

While voicing her concerns for the children at Nubarashen, she was
charged with slander and taken to court. The criminal case against
her is still ongoing.
