Arminfo. The principle of the right of Nagornyy Karabakh people
for self-determination – is one of the most important principles to
settle the conflict, OSCE PA Special Rapporteur on Nagornyy Karabakh
Goran Lennmarker said at the seminar "Regional Development in the
South Caucasus: Challenges, Opportunities and Prospects" opened in
Yerevan today.
He also said if not this important principle, we would not have
the independent Armenia, Georgia or Azerbaijan. He said there is
also another important principle – inviolability of borders which
should be also observed. The European diplomat said that the ways
for Karabakh conflict settlement should be found as soon as possible,
as the Armenian as well as Azerbaijani economy suffers because of it.
Moreover, one should not forget that people die the line of
contact every year. ‘The energy of the two peoples may be used more
effectively’, – he said and added that the existing settlement format
should be preserved.
