Journalist Dana Mazalova is well known in the Czech Republic for
her open pro-Armenian position, the Czech embassy in Azerbaijan said
commenting on the Czech journalist’s statement in Yerevan.
While in Yerevan, the Czech journalist spread misinformation about
the tragedy in Khojaly.
"This journalist has been actively involved in activities of Armenians
in the Czech Republic. She is the author of the movie about the
earthquake in Spitak. She has close ties with the editor of the "Orer"
magazine published by the Armenian diaspora in the Czech Republic. So,
we can conclude that she is not Czech, but Armenian journalist. Her
journalistic independence causes great suspicion", the Azerbaijani
embassy in Prague reported.
"This journalist stated that allegedly Azerbaijan wishes to present
Khojaly as another Czech Lidice. It should be noted, that such a
decision made by the Mayor of Lidice is very important for Azerbaijan
and we appreciate it very much. But we do not intend to use it as
propaganda. The most important is that Lidice and Khojali have signed a
memorandum of cooperation," the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
"On the other hand, it is very important that the ceremony of
commemoration of the Khojaly tragedy was held in Lidice. The world is
well aware of the tragedy that happened in Lidice, and well aware why
a ceremony commemorating the Khojaly tragedy was organized precisely
in Lidice. Unlike Armenia, Azerbaijan never used the tragedy as a
means of propaganda," it said in a statement.
"On the other hand, Mazalova noted that she addressed the very event
in Lidice and expressed her views on this matter. In fact, her speech
was more like a hysterical shouting of a man, not confident of what
he says, but is forced to do so on behalf of his patrons."
"Her short speech was nothing but an attempt to create a scandal. The
words and actions of this journalist were so disgusting that the
people of Lidice, who participated in this event, told all the other
inhabitants of the unpleasant impression about her shouting ," the
diplomatic mission said.
