Turkish FM: Turkey’s response to Sweden to be very tough

Ankara’s response to the recognition of "Armenian genocide" by the
Swedish Parliament will be tough, Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmet
Davutoglu, being on an unofficial visit to Finland said, CNN Turk
website reported.
A week after the adoption of the resolution on "Armenian genocide" by
the U.S. Congress’s committee, the Swedish parliament by a margin of
one vote, approved the document that recognizes the so-called
"genocide."
As a sign of protest against the adoption of the resolution on
"genocide" by the Swedish Parliament and the U.S. Congress, official
Ankara recalled its envoys from these countries. Turkish Foreign
Minister called the decision of the Swedish Parliament mistaken,
adding that Turkey will never agree these accusations.
"This is a fundamental question (the accusations of genocide) for
Turkey", Davutoglu said.
According to him, the decision of the Swedish Parliament was so
misleading and wrong, that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan
canceled his visit to Stockholm.
On Friday night, Turkish ambassador to Sweden Zergun Koruturk arrived
in Ankara. She was recalled from the Swedish capital for
consultations. Turkish ambassador, speaking to media on arrival in
Istanbul, regretted concerning deterioration of relations between
Stockholm and Ankara. She said that the date of her return to Sweden
is still unknown.
The Swedish side, expressing its attitude to this issue, stated that
the adoption of the resolution on the "Armenian genocide" will strike
a serious blow to the actions towards the normalization of
Turkish-Armenian relations.
Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt called on not to politicize the
historical events.
