Protocols’ fate depends on US-Turkey talks, says Safrastian

Director of the Institute of the Oriental Studies of Armenia’s
National Academy of Sciences Ruben Safrastian says thinks U.S.
President Obama will probably use `genocide’-word in his annual
address to the Armenian people.

According to Ruben Safrastian, the U.S. Congress will probably fasten
down the vote over Genocide Resolution.

`The Armenia-Turkey protocols’ `fate’ depends on secret U.S.-Turkey
talks and dealing,’ said Safrastian pointing that the bargaining
between Turkey and the United States may fail, leading to fail in
process of ratification for protocols. `If this happens it would be
rather logical to Armenia to withdraw from negotiations with Turkey,’
he said.

`Turkey will try to make use of the Resolution 252, and approval of
the Genocide Resolution by Sweden’s Parliament to vote down
normalization of relations with Armenia,’ he added.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
