ARMENIAN ASSOCIATION OF ACTUARIES PRESENTS ITS FIRST MAGAZINE "THE ACTUARY"

ArmInfo. The Armenian Association of Actuaries has presented its first
magazine "The Actuary". Chairman of the Association Vardan Dabaghyan
says the Association is going to establish relations first of all
with the leading specialists in the financial sector, in particular,
the insurance sector, investment environment, where such specialists
are highly in demand.

The first step towards development of actuarial activities in Armenia
was opening of the Specialty "Actuarial Mathematics" for post-graduate
students and than for the bachelors at the Yerevan State University
in 2001. Later in 2007 the Department of Actuarial Mathematics was
established. The USAID supports development of actuarial activities
in Armenia. In 2001 with the support of the USAID the actuarial
office "Nork" was created when the graduated students of relevant
department work.

The first actuarial company was established in England in 1762. In
London in 1848 the First Institute of Actuaries was established. In
conditions of globalization, the International Association of Actuaries
was established in 1895. An actuary is a business professional who
analyzes the financial consequences of risk.

Actuaries use mathematics, statistics, and financial theory to study
uncertain future events, especially those of concern to insurance
and pension programs.
