JICA CONSIDERS IT EXPEDIENT TO FINANCE PROJECTS OF REGIONAL IMPORTANCE

YEREVAN, MARCH 17, NOYAN TAPAN. Receiving on March 17 the delegation
of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Armenian Deputy
Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgian
expressed a hope that the results of JICA mission’s visit to Armenia
would be mutually useful and satisfactory. He said the previous
programs implemented in cooperation with JICA were successful,
expressing confidence that the established traditions will continue.
A. Gevorgian proposed that the JICA delegation present those spheres
where the agency is interested in implementing projects.
According to Fusato Tanaka, Head of the JICA Caucasus and Central Asia
Department, the agency considers it expedient to finance projects
of regional importance and for that reason it gives priority to the
North-South Highway construction program. He said that JICA is ready
to discuss its financial participation in the program.
A. Gevprgian attached importance to JICA’s participation in this
program of great importance to Armenia.

reports that Chairman of the State Water Industry Committee Andranik
Andreasian also took part in the meeting.
