President Serzh Sargsyan received the delegation headed by Thomas
Mirow, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development (EBRD).

President Sargsyan highly appreciated the EBRD activity in our country,
the investments in Armenian economy, noting that "thanks to them,
Armenia has managed to solve issues of development."

"The cooperation with the Bank has provided an opportunity to shape
certain trust in our country and economy among foreign investors.

Armenia is ready to continue expanding the cooperation," Serzh
Sargsyan said.

Thomas Mirow said the activity of the European Bank for Reconstruction
and Development is aimed at the modernization of the Armenian economy,
and the EBRD puts the main emphasis on the promotion of the private
sector, particularly the small and medium-sized businesses.

According to him, the European Bank has invested about $500 million
in Armenia, and the volume of investments sharply increased because
of the global financial-economic crisis.

Thomas Mirow expressed gratitude to President Sargsyan for the support
to the EBRD activity in Armenia.

The EBRD President hailed Serzh Sargsyan’s efforts towards
implementation of structural reforms. He said that under hard
conditions the Armenian financial system managed to resist the
challenges and proved its strength and stability.

Thomas Mirow said the EBRD is ready to continue supporting the
development of the small and medium-sized business and the improvement
of infrastructures.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
