Baku – APA. Patriarch Cyril invited the Catholicos of All Armenians
Karekin II on its own behalf and behalf of the spiritual leader of
Azerbaijan, the head of the Caucasus Muslims Allahshukur Pashazadeh
to attend the second inter-religious summit of CIS countries in Baku,
APA reports citing Novosti Armenia.
"I brought an invitation to His Holiness to go to Baku, to express
its position on the important issues that will be discussed there. I
believe that our openness, which has nothing to do with weakness,
loss of national identity, with the loss of religious identity,
our openness is capable of so much change in this world, so that
the world saw the face of the Christian church "- the patriarch said
at a meeting with professors faculty and students of Yerevan State
University. Second Inter-religious summit of the CIS organized by
the Interreligious Council of the CIS countries, and will be held in
April in Baku. The Patriarch also noted that the Armenian Apostolic
Church and the Russian Orthodox Church is actively involved in the
settlement of the Karabakh issue. "Our goal – to create an atmosphere
for people to no longer look at each other virtually, but through the
sight, to suddenly realize that their joint efforts depends on their
shared future", – said the Patriarch. He also expressed gratitude
to the Catholicos of All Armenians, because "His Holiness has never
shied away from these peacekeeping actions, had always been open
interaction, never done anything that would violate the interests
of its people, and have never made such a way that would impede the
further important conversation.
