ArmInfo. Egg production exceeds consumption and makes local producers
search for export ways, Chairman of the Union of Poultry Breeders of
Armenia Sergey Stepanyan told media on Friday. He said that in 2009
nearly 630 million of eggs were produced in Armenia. " The domestic
market cannot consume such production scales, so we are studying
possibilities of establishing production of egg concentrate for
export," S. Stepanyan said. In 2009, he said, local producers exported
small quantity of products. Retail price of eggs is kept relatively
low. "In 2009 egg price fell to the same level as 10 years ago," he
said. Banks are passive since they consider poultry breeding risky
sector, which creates obstacles to purchase of new equipment.

The Customs Service of the Armenian State Revenue Committee reports
that in 2009 a little more than 4 million of eggs for 261,000 dollars
were exported from Armenia. In 2008 export totaled 2.6 million eggs
in the amount of 561,000 dollars. Disproportion is the reason of
sharp devaluation of the Armenian dram in March 2009.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
