European Armenians condemn Erdogan’s statement

11:50 / 03/20/2010Assembly of Armenians of Europe (AAE) condemned
recent statement by Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, that if
needed he will deport 100.000 illegal Armenians from the country.

`This fact also comes to prove that in modern Turkey too xenophobia is
spread, particularly intolerance towards Armenian people.
Interestingly, this statement is made by a leader of the country,
whose large number of citizens lives in European states as refugees
and immigrants. More surprising is the fact that country adhering to
this stance seeks to join a European family,’ says the AAE statement.

`We urge relevant European structures to condemn this statement and
take the necessary actions against intolerance towards human rights
and other nations in Turkey. We call also all European states to
assume their universal duty and condemn Genocide crime and recognize
the fact of Armenian Genocide,’ the document reads.
