Francophonie days to kick off in Armenia
The Francophonie Days officially kick off in Armenia today. The event
has been initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia on
the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the International Organization
of the Francophone. The launch of the Francophone Days was given by
Christian Ter-Stepanyan ambassador and the adviser to the Foreign
Minister of Armenia on Issues of Francophonie and French ambassador to
Armenia Serzh Smesov.
Armenia has become a member of international organization of
Francophonie since 2008. Christian Ter-Stepanyan told in the
frameworks of the Francophonie the Secretary General of the
International Organization of the Francophonie, Abdou Diouf will
arrive in Armenia.
On his turn the ambassador Smesov mentioned that around one month both
in Yerevan and other regions of Armenia, Armavir, Artik, Goris will be
organized tens of events to present the cultural diversity of France,
Belgium, Canada, Romania, Switzrland and other Francophone countries.
There will be held more than 30 events, exhibitions, seminars, poetry
evenings, literary readings, jazz concerts, theatrical performances as
well as days for fairytales.
The ambassador informed that in the frameworks of the Francophonie
Days the RA Ministry of Education and Science will organize a
composition-contest for the schoolchildren titled `Let’s go to
France’, the winners of the contest will get the opportunity to visit
France.
`In many cities of the world the same contest will be held and 200
winners of the contest will meet in France’, – the ambassador Smesov
said.
