2008 Elections Were Falsified, Extraordinary Elections Could Be Too:

2008 ELECTIONS WERE FALSIFIED, EXTRAORDINARY ELECTIONS COULD BE TOO: ARMENIAN REVOLUTIONARY FEDERATION MP

In Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun, ARF-D) MP Artsvik
Minasyan’s opinion, in order for extraordinary elections to take place,
public consciousness and the electoral system must be ready.

At a press conference today, Minasyan noted that extraordinary
elections are unlikely, however, he doesn’t exlude the possibility.

According to him, everyone, including opposition representatives,
should know that extraordinary elections and a change of government
shouldn’t be ends in and of themselves.

"I can’t understand those statements that extraordinary elections
are necessary and must take place as son as possible. In 2008, the
elections were falsified within the same electoral system; what’s
the guarantee that in extraordinary elections, the same thing won’t
repeat itself?" said Minasyan.

According to the MP, if essential reform isn’t taking place in the
electoral system, if the public isn’t being presented with planned
ideological approaches, nothing will come out of extraordinary
elections.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
