Armenian cause is one of the most tragic watersheds in the history of
genocides, former Republican candidate for US presidency, Vietnamese
war veteran John McCain told in an interview with Turkish Haberturk.

"Armenian Genocide – is a critical issue. We have to condemn the
Genocide, but on the other hand should look to the future. The matter
is that we cannot blame the incumbent Turkish authorities and modern
Turkey for Armenian Genocide," Senator stated.

He emphasized that Turks are friends and allies of the Americans.

According to him, Turkey carries democratic values to the region.

"Turkey is a crucial partner of the U.S. in the Middle East and the
world. Its support is essential also in the fights against Islamist
movements," McCain said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
