During the celebrations of Zoroastrian Novruz holiday Azerbaijan’s
President Ilham Aliyev announced that the country would continue
furnishing its troops with arms.

"If Azerbaijan were sure of its victory, it would unleash a war
immediately without waiting for anyone," says RA Defense Minister’s
Spokesman, Colonel Seyran Shahsuvaryan.

"We live in a state of war and I don’t conceal that Azerbaijan is
building up its military potential. Our primary goal is to strengthen
our army. We are going to buy new ammunition. Azerbaijan’s Armed
Forces must be able to execute the orders of High Command at any time
and any moment," said Aliyev.

In a talk with A1+, Seyran Shahsuvaryan said Azerbaijan has been
making similar statements for "domestic use" and in order to console
its people.

Regarding RC citizens’ calculation by regional military commissiariats,
the defense ministry spokesman said the process was not an innovation.

"We compute all Armenian citizens under 50. We simply want to verify
whether that person exits or not. If the person evades calculation,
he/she shall be made accountable under RA law "On Conscription,"
said Mr. Shahsuvaryan.

Citizens participate in manoeuvres for a week. During the manoeuvres
citizens are given free meals by the ministry.

"They must know their place in this or that military unit if suddenly
a war breaks out," added Seyran Shahsuvaryan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
