ARMENIAN, SYRIAN PRESIDENTS PRAISE POLITICAL DIALOGUE AND TIES

At the invitation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Armenia’s
President Serzh Sargsyan and his wife, county’s First Lady Mrs. Rita
Sargsyan, arrived Monday in Syria, a spokesperson for Presidential
Administration said.

Armenian President was welcomed at an official ceremony, followed by
a tete-a-tete between Bashar al-Assad and Serzh Sargsyan. Syrian
President said is sure that mutual visits will contribute to
development and strengthening of the existing relations between the
two countries. Both Presidents praised political dialogue between
administrations of Armenia and Syria. Parties discussed a wade range
of issues, stressed necessity of business-relations for trade and
economical cooperation, and talked about agreements, reached during
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s visit to Armenia.

President Sargsyan thanked his Syrian counterpart for support and said
that Armenian Community in Syria is a reliable bridge of friendship
for two nations.

After talks in an expanded format, including officials of the Armenian
delegation to Syria, Presidents of Armenia and Syria made a joint
statement for media and answered journalists’ questions.

By the end of the first day of the visit, President Serzh Sargsyan
and his wife attended Damascus Opera House to enjoy Spartacus Ballet
by Aram Khachaturian, performed under Mrs. Sargsyan and Syrian First
Lady’s patronage.

Late in the evening Monday Mr. Bashar al-Assad hosted an official
dinner in honor of President of Armenia and his wife.
