town to understand who are the real hosts of Shoushi", said Arsen
Melik-Shakhnazarov, political expert from Russia, author of the book
"Nagorno-Karabakh: facts against the lie", at today’s international
scientific- practical conference "The policy of state terror and ethnic
cleansings of Azerbaijan against Nagorno- Karabakh" held in Karabakh.
He pointed out that Shoushi used to be the third town by population
in Transcaucasia after Baku and Tiflis. "In Russia they know little
about Shoushi today, much less than before the revolution, when this
town was well-known in the Russian Empire, and our opponents make
advantage of this and try to say that Shoushi is the pearl and even
the ancient capital of Azerbaijan, which is ridiculous by itself. If
according to Azerbaijani sources, which do not contradict to Armenian
ones, Shoushi was founded in 1752, then "ancient" Azerbaijan is 250
years old",- concluded the political expert.
