ARMENIA, SYRIA INTERESTED IN BOOSTING ECONOMIC TIES

On the second day of the official visit to Syria President Serzh
Sargsyan had a meeting with Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Naji
al-Otari. Issues related to the expansion of the Armenian-Syrian
business ties were discussed. The parties emphasized the necessity
for promoting relations in the economic field. President Sargsyan
noted that the Armenian community of Syria could serve as a bridge
in the intensification of the economic ties.

President Sargsyan visited the St. Sargis Church of Damascus, where
he met representatives of the Armenian community. The President spoke
about the future of the Armenian-Syrian relations, saying it would
be bright irrespective of ant shift of power, influence of regional
forces or any other factor.

According to Serzh Sargsyan, the Syrian Armenian community has always
contributed and will contribute to the development of bilateral
relations.

President Sargsyan touched upon the perspectives of Armenia’s
development, the difficulties that have to be overcome on that way,
the normalization of the Armenian Turkish relations and the Karabakh
settlement.
