Yerevan will join the global initiative "Earth Hour", thus becoming
one of the 6000 city-participants.
The campaign will take place from 8:30p.m. till 9:30p.m., March 27,
2010. The lights of Yerevan’s landmarks, main avenues and streets
will be turned off for an hour.
The campaign first started in 2007, in Sydney, Australia, where 2
million people united for an hour and switched off their lights to
show that they care about our living planet. The aim of the campaign
is to unite efforts in a struggle against clime changes.
More than 50 million people across the world participated in the
campaign in 2008. In 2009 over 1 milliard people in almost 4000 cities
and towns in 88 countries across 25 time zones turned off their lights
for one hour in support for decisive action on climate change.
The project is initiated by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
