3 possible scenario of the Armenian ` Turkish relations
Today in the frameworks of the discussions over Armenian ` Turkish
relations the director of the Eurasia Partnership Foundation Gevorg
Ter-Gabrielyan mentioned that there are 3 possible variants for the
development of the situation; optimistic, which means that the
protocols will be accepted and the border will be opened, pessimistic,
and something in the middle, where, as the speaker believes we are
right now.
`The pessimistic variant causes some troubles within the Armenian
society. The issues of the Armenian minorities and migrants who are in
Turkey is being endangered and in case of the Armenian ` Turkish
relations getting worse the Armenian migrants will become victims of
those relations,’ Ter-Gabrielyan mentioned.
He also mentioned that several months ago the issue of the Armenian
migrants was rather abstract, but the statement Erdogan lately made on
expelling the Armenian migrants from Turkey `made us more conscious.’
As another pessimistic solution suggested by Ter-Gabrielyan was the
growth of tension in Karabakh issue, where, as a strategic companion
of Azerbaijan, Turkey too will have its participation.
`The optimistic variant too has concrete challenges. The protocols are
very acute work, and it doesn’t matter whether we agree with concrete
points of it or not, they are very significant. And when the time of
using them will arrive there will be a lot of works to be done. The
implementation too has many joyful challenges,’ the speaker said.
Gevorg Ter-Gabrielyan believes that in case Armenia and Turkey affirm
their relations they will be the most deeply thought and significant
relations in the region and can play a key role in the establishment
of peace in the region.
To the question of the Turkish colleague which the best step for
passing to the optimistic scenario is, Ter-Gabrielyan answered: `The
Armenians can have free access to Turkey and the contrary, it will
create an atmosphere of trust between of two nations.’
